Scope of Services as Business Relationship Executive (Independent Contractor)

Location: Remote (Optional shared office in Tokyo)

Main Contact Person at the Company: Japan Country Manager

Service Hours: 12 hours per week. Business Relationship Executive shall be responsible for scheduling their service hours as needed to effectively provide their key services.

Services Fee: 3,000 yen per hour

Contract Duration: Initial contract for 1 year, with potential for renewal

 

Purpose of the Position:

To provide support to the Company in facilitating the success of GNS Science and associated New Zealand enterprises within the New Zealand Japan Geothermal Coalition (Coalition) in Japan.

 

Key Responsibilities:

•                     Collaborate closely with the Japan Country Manager to achieve objectives and establish a sustainable presence in Japan.

•                     Cultivate and maintain robust relationships with key Japanese government entities and agencies, including JOGMEC, NEDO, AIST, NIED, and JAMSTEC, with the aim of accessing future government funding to support GNS Science and the Coalition initiatives. This includes facilitating GNS and the Coalition’s ability to tap into Japanese government geothermal promotion budgets and funds through Japanese partners and clients, in alignment with GNS Science and the Coalition’s capability and strategy.  

•                     Enhance our existing collaborations with JOGMEC by actively organizing in the annual geothermal training courses in New Zealand and workshops. Seek innovative opportunities to transition these government-sector connections into future commercial ventures.

•                     Forge strategic partnerships with academic institutions, universities, and industrial associations.

•                     Assist the Company in fostering productive collaborations with Japanese private companies, facilitating the development of mutually beneficial business relationships.

•                     Assist the Company with International Growth Fund administration and claims.

 

Required Skills:

•                     Proficiency in both English and Japanese for effective communication.

•                     Ability to establish and maintain strong interpersonal relationships.

•                     Proficient in drafting formal documents in both English and Japanese.

•                     A strong sense of responsibility and the determination to see tasks through to completion.

 

Eligibility:

•                     Experience in the renewable energy sector with a minimum of 5 years, particularly in geothermal power.

•                     Experience in the hydrogen production sector would be advantageous.

•                     Prior experience in government relations.

•                     Work experience in government sector is preferable.

 

Location:

•             Flexibility to provide the services remotely, or within a shared office in Tokyo.
